Its original purpose was to distribute lecture notes, lab materials, assignments, and other class material to students in my classes. At that time the college did not have the technology to distribute class materials on the Internet. We added an online glossary, discussion forum, links directory, and a few other features to engage our students.<\/p>\n<p>In 2010 we changed the domain to\u00a0<strong>beausanders.org<\/strong>\u00a0to make it sound less commercial, but we still maintain alias domains beausanders.com, beausanders.us, beausanders.net, and beausanders.info. We have added several additional servers to help manage our development projects including production servers <a href=\"https:\/\/linux1.beausanders.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">linux1.beausanders.org<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/linux3.beausanders.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">linux3.beausanders<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/linux4.beausanders.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">linux4.beausanders.org<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/linux6.beausanders.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">linux6.beausanders.org<\/a>. Running separate servers provides redundancy and backup, as well as good practice maintaining our systems administration skills.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years our website has gone through many changes. We created the <a href=\"https:\/\/geekglossary.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GeekGlossary.com<\/a> web app to modernize our online glossary. Then we developed the <a href=\"https:\/\/cptjobs.greenvilletech.us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jobs Board<\/a>. Recently we took the Links Directory out of mothballs, cleaned it up, and renamed it <a href=\"https:\/\/beausanders.org\/bsolinks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Resource Links<\/a>. It was added back to the website in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Our latest improvement to <strong>beausanders.org<\/strong> was to move our content management system from <a href=\"https:\/\/joomla.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joomla<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WordPress<\/a>. Joomla has served us well for many years, but WordPress is the better choice now for web projects like ours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thank you for visiting beausanders.org<\/strong>.
